Q: What do I need to bring for my first lesson?

A: Come with an open mind, sturdy footwear, sunglasses, a hat and plenty of water to drink.

Q: What if I am afraid of heights?

A: Acrophobia (fear of heights), may affect you when you are standing, for example on a tall building and look down. This happens to everyone who is not used to it and will be overcome in most cases after your brain gets used to this uncommon situation.

That is one of the reasons why we usually take you on a tandem to prepare you for your solo flight.

Q. Are there any age restriction for paragliders?

A. Paragliding does not require a large amount of physical strength therefore many people can enjoy the sport for hours on end.

More important than physical fitness is mental alertness.

On the other hand if you are looking to lose a couple of kilos, paragliding is a great way to get yourself back into shape. Our pilots are as young as 15 and as mature as 72.

Q. How long will a licensed course take?

A: The course generally takes an average 8 days to complete.
Rainbow Paragliding averages 2 students per instructor, which insures that you will receive the personal attention you need to advance your skills quickly.

But learning to paraglide like an expert will take longer. - Once you have trained with us, you belong to our family. You will be encouraged to join us for fun flying whenever the weather in on.

Q. Is a paraglider the same thing as a parachute?

A. No. A paraglider is a foot launch device which used to exercise and have fun.
A parachute or reserve parachute is carried as an additional safety device which is only used in highly critical situations.

Q: How do I get started?

A. The best way to start is take a day lesson at Carlo Sandblow in Rainbow Beach.

During this hands-on lesson you will learn to handle the glider on the ground and you will fly on your own under radio supervision.

We work full time, so reservations are available 7 days a week.
This means that we are available to work around your schedule.
Once you discover the lightness of paragliding and want to take the course, this day lesson will fully count towards your paragliding certification.

Q: Is it safe to paraglide?

A. You can make paragliding as safe or dangerous as you want, like with any other sport.

It is important that you are trained by a certified Flying Instructor and fly only with reliable equipment.

Our school creates a controlled learning environment to train and prepare for you the 'real thing'.

This sport is an outdoor exercise and it primarily depends on mother mature's weather.

If you fly only in safe condition the sport is safe.
Your personal judgment and attitude towards this sport will contribute a great deal towards your personal safety.
You must be willing to learn step by step, think with your head and not let your ego take over.

If you don't, you run risks and may get injured. If you do, you can paraglide as long as you can walk and your head is clear.
